You may see a dialogue box asking you to install a “Helper Tool.” It will look like this.
You will see this dialogue box appear in certain situations:
- After upgrading your Apple computer OS to Snow Leopard (10.6) or newer
- Or after installing the latest version of the BlackCloak app on your Apple computer
This is expected and you should enter your password for your computer to add the BlackCloak helper.
Why Am I Seeing This?
Starting in OSX Snow Leopard (10.6), Apple introduced a more secure architecture for accessing sensitive parts of the operating system. Applications, such as BlackCloak, that need to use certain functions install a helper tool that is granted access to these protected functions and used only when necessary. This architecture ensures greater protection from malware for your Apple hardware.
Still Not Sure What to Do?
Reach out to the BlackCloak concierge team for a quick checkup, and we will make sure you have BlackCloak installed correctly.
