Article summary

Data breaches affect people of all ages, including minors. If there is a risk of a Social Security Number being leaked in a breach that belongs to a minor, you can request a security freeze at each of the Credit Reporting Agencies. This process is much different than an adult, as you have to mail a form to each of the agencies directly.

Experian Form: PO Box 9554, Allen, TX 75013
Equifax Form: P.O. Box 105788, Atlanta, GA 30348-5788
Transunion Form: P.O. Box 2000, Chester, PA 19016-2000

Additionally, applicable plans are eligible for IDnotify. With IDnotify, you can enroll in Child Monitoring, allowing you to keep track of changes in their credit profile and monitor the Dark Web for exposure. This will stay effective until the day before their 18th birthday.

Fortunately, for minors, there is not much that can be done with private information being exposed. An attacker would be unable to exploit much of the information as it is documented that they are minors.

Our team is readily available to walk through these concerns with you. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Concierge Team via the BlackCloak mobile app.
