16 Billion Login Credentials Leaked From Various Websites
Researchers discovered 30 datasets containing 16 billion login credentials. The credentials belonged to several different websites, including Apple, Google and Facebook. It's important to note that this isn't a new data breach, as these credentials have likely been circulated for some time. Still, now is a good time to practice good password hygiene. Ensure each account is protected by a strong, unique password, and consider storing them in a password manager. It's also highly recommended that you set up multifactor authentication on all of your accounts if available.
Qantas Data Breach Affects Six Million People
Qantas has begun to reach out to people who have been affected by the airline’s recent data breach, which has affected around six million customers. Leaked data includes customers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and frequent flyer miles. Passport details, credit card data, financial information, passwords and PINs were not exposed in the breach.
If you have flown with Qantas, be on the look for suspicious messages that may come via email or text. Threat actors may send phishing emails to those whose information was compromised in the breach, or, they may send phishing messages through SMS text messages, a tactic known as “smishing.” If you receive any suspicious communications, contact the BlackCloak Concierge team and our staff will be able to tell you whether the message is legitimate.
