Starting October 29, 2025, when you open the BlackCloak app, you will be prompted to go through our new, secure loginand in-app guided experience. The login authentication process has changed so we can securely provide our members the ability to log in with their own unique password or Google account (if your BlackCloak account email is a Google domain). We are pleased to be able to provide this functionality while also ensuring the highest level of security, and are now ready to release this feature to our members.

Benefits:

You will now be able to set a unique password decided by you without needing a PIN, or log in with your Google account. The new features will also streamline password resets when needed, and you will be guided through this new process the next time you open the app

The new login system is significantly more secure because it replaces the simple static PIN with the much stronger protection of a personal password you create or your secure Google login (if applicable).

How do I update my account login to the new system?

  • Update your BlackCloak App
  • Create your new login
  • Sign in on your other BlackCloak protected devices

Common Questions:

  1. Will I still be able to use my existing email and PIN?
    • You will still be able to use your existing email, but with this new functionality you will NOT be able to use your PIN. You will be creating a new, secure login to replace your pin.
    • You will be asked instead to set a new, unique password or login via your Google account (if applicable
  2. What happens to my account during the transition?
    • When you set your new password for the first time, this will log you out of the BlackCloak app on all devices. You will need to log back in to the app on those devices with your new login method (password or Google social sign-in).
    • Your BlackCloak protections and services will remain active, but you will need to walk through our new process on one device. After completing on one device, please log in to your BlackCloak account using your updated sign-in method on all additional devices.
  3. Will my profile data, settings, or saved content be affected?
    • Your account data will not be affected
    • Once you complete setting up your new password or using your Google account to log in, the new in-app guided experience will require you to confirm that your data is correct
  4. What personal data is collected during login now?
    • Secure Password: Your password will be encrypted and stored in our Google Cloud
    • Google sign in: During sign-in, account specifics that will be shared with BlackCloak will be disclosed at that time

Can I log in with my Google account, and with a secure password?

Yes! You can link both your Google account and a secure password to your BlackCloak app login.

If you first set up with a secure password, and want to add Google as a sign-in method:

  1. Log out of your BlackCloak account.
  2. On the sign-in screen, choose the "Sign in with Google" option.
  3. Select the Google account from the list that matches your BlackCloak account email.
  4. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the sign-in.

If you first set up your Google account as your primary sign-in method, and want to add a secure password:

  1. Log out of your BlackCloak account.
  2. On the sign-in screen, select the "Sign in with Password" option.
  3. Tap on the “Reset Password”.
  4. Enter your BlackCloak account email (the one you use for Google Sign-in).
  5. Check your inbox for a password reset email from us.
  6. Follow the instructions in that email to create your new, secure password.
