Notification Preferences
We have redesigned our Notification Preferences as of May 2026 to be more resilient and user-friendly. This feature ensures you stay informed about your security posture while providing the flexibility to manage how we communicate with you.
What’s different?
Tailored Communications: Choose exactly what notifications you receive and through which channel.
Uninterrupted Critical Security: Essential notifications like password resets and active threats are categorized as Critical, ensuring clients are always reachable during high-stakes security events even if other alerts are muted.
Silent Activity Feed: Even if you choose to silence a specific notification, it will still appear in your in-app Activity list, providing a complete, historical record of our protection.
Features in the Mobile App
Located under "Your Profile," the new settings page allows you to toggle specific types of alerts to match your needs.
New Settings Page: Easily customize which notifications you want to see.
OS Warning Banner: If you have blocked BlackCloak notifications in your phone settings, the app will show a banner asking you to reconsider so you don’t miss out on important information.
Silent Activity Feed: Even if you turn off a specific notification, it will still appear "silently" in your Activity list so you always have a complete record of our work.
Key Benefits
Tailored Communications: Clients can now customize their experience by choosing exactly which alerts they receive and through which channel (Mobile, Desktop, or Email), moving away from "all-or-nothing" settings.
Uninterrupted Critical Security: Essential notifications like password resets and active threats are categorized as Critical, ensuring clients are always reachable during high-stakes security events even if other alerts are muted.
Intelligent Troubleshooting: The system now detects if notifications are disabled at the phone's OS level, allowing both the app and our team to proactively help clients fix communication gaps.
Silent Activity Record: Even if a notification is silenced, it is still logged in a "Silent Activity Feed" within the app, providing a complete historical record for the client to review at their convenience.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I turn off "Critical" alerts? For your protection, items like ‘Password Resets’ and ‘Active Threats’ are categorized as "Critical." These are the only alerts that cannot be muted, ensuring that if your identity is at risk, you will know immediately.
What if I am not receiving any push notifications? Our app now includes an OS Warning Banner. If you have blocked notifications at the phone system level, the app will alert you so you can re-enable them and then use our internal "Preferences" menu to customize your alerts.
Where do I find these settings? Once released, these options will be located under "Your Profile" in the BlackCloak mobile app.
